about
My whole life I just wanted to fit in.
Growing up on an indian reservation I always felt that I was too white to be #Native and too Native to be white. As a human I've spent more time resisting the pain instead of sitting with it and learning to heal from it. This lead me to addiction, disease of perception and a disconnect from who I really was. Deep down I've always felt a great spirit guiding me but this is the first time I stopped to listen to it. Every time I see a hawk fly above I know that somewhere way beyond religion and far beyond social structure there is a place for my soul to find peace.
For years I've chased the American dream but it left me feeling empty and unsatisfied, so finally last year my wife and I decided to let go. We started by selling all our possessions, cutting out processed foods and growing and eating more plants. We challenged ourselves to sit in the discomfort and weed out what others suggest for our lives and only do what rings true with our individual human vibration. My greatest fear was that of moving back to the rez but through doing so I've slowly re-indigenized my belief system and reconnected to my roots.
My new music expresses that transformation....that no matter where you go, where you live, where you visit or who you visit with home is where you are and no one can take that away.
Verse 1
Go on pull that trigger now, show ‘em how
You can really let go.
There’s so much that we worry ‘bout
We scream and shout at all those thangs we don’t know.
But if we just keep our eyes on the stars
It will all work out.
And if we just keep our eyes on the stars and we never look down
We know that …
Chorus
Home is where you are, where you are, where you are is home.
Home is where you are, where you are, where you are is home.
Verse 2
They try and tell me, that I need this and I need that.
They try and sell me, on all that’s fading fast.
But if we just keep our eyes on the stars
It will all work out.
And if we just keep our eyes on the stars and we never look down
We know that …
Chorus
Home is where you are, where you are, where you are is home.
Home is where you are, where you are, where you are is home.
Bridge
You better stop that, you’d better give in
Make changes to the way you’re living.
You’ll be allright if you let go,
You’ll be ok so long as you know.
If we keep our eyes on the stars then everything will be fine.
I’m gonna keep my eyes on yours, gonna keep my eyes on yours
And you can keep yours on mine…
Chorus
Home is where you are, where you are, where you are is home.
Home is where you are, where you are, where you are is home.
